Small Text Generator

Small caps and tiny superscript letters for bios and captions, with the missing letters flagged

More styles

These are Unicode characters, not fonts, so they paste into bios, captions and display names on almost every platform. Handles are the exception: no major platform accepts them there. X counts most of them as two characters each, and screen readers may spell them out letter by letter or skip them. Check a styled post in the social media character counter before you publish it.

About Small Text Generator

The Small Text Generator offers two kinds of small: small caps, which look like capitals at lowercase height, and tiny text, which raises each letter into superscript. Neither is a real typographic style in Unicode. Small caps are phonetic letters from the IPA and the Uralic Phonetic Alphabet, and tiny text uses the modifier letters linguists write above the line. Both have gaps. There is no small capital x, and no tiny q that phone fonts can draw, so those stay plain, and the tool names them under the result whenever your text contains one, so you are not surprised after posting.

Small Caps and Tiny Text: Where the Letters Come From and Which Are Missing

Unicode never encoded small caps as a style. The ones you can paste are phonetic letters, which is why x has no match and q has to borrow a tail.

Frequently Asked Questions

Unicode has no small capital X, because the phonetic alphabets these letters come from never needed one. The tool leaves x lowercase and tells you under the result.
