Italic Text Generator

Italic and bold italic letters in serif and sans, ready to paste into captions and comments

0 characters

These are Unicode characters, not fonts, so they paste into bios, captions and display names on almost every platform. Handles are the exception: no major platform accepts them there. X counts most of them as two characters each, and screen readers may spell them out letter by letter or skip them. Check a styled post in the social media character counter before you publish it.

About Italic Text Generator

The Italic Text Generator slants your text for captions, bios and comments on apps with no formatting. It puts four italic styles first: italic sans, which blends in with most app fonts, serif italic for titles and quotes that should look set apart, and bold italic in both for stronger emphasis. Italics come from the Unicode alphabets made for mathematical variables, so they have no italic digits and numbers stay upright. The lowercase h comes from a different block, as the Planck constant symbol β„Ž, because its slot in the math alphabet was left empty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Unicode has no italic digits. Italic letters were encoded for algebra, where letters are variables and digits are always upright, so the numbers in your text are left as they are.
