Bold Text Generator

Bold letters for apps with no bold button, in serif, sans, italic, cursive and gothic weights

0 characters

These are Unicode characters, not fonts, so they paste into bios, captions and display names on almost every platform. Handles are the exception: no major platform accepts them there. X counts most of them as two characters each, and screen readers may spell them out letter by letter or skip them. Check a styled post in the social media character counter before you publish it.

About Bold Text Generator

The Bold Text Generator gives you bold in places that have no bold button: Instagram captions and bios, LinkedIn posts, TikTok, Facebook posts and X for anyone without a subscription. It shows six bold styles at the top, sans, serif, bold italic in both, bold cursive and bold gothic, and the All tab holds the other forty-five. Bold sans is listed first because it is the closest match to the system font of most apps, so a bolded word reads as emphasis rather than as a different typeface. Bold sans and bold serif also convert digits, which none of the italic or script styles can.

The guide behind this tool

Which Apps Have Real Bold Text, and Where You Need Unicode Instead

WhatsApp, Discord and YouTube comments have their own bold syntax that stays searchable. Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok have none, and that is where Unicode bold belongs.

How to use Bold Text Generator

  1. 1

Type the word or line you want in bold. Bolding a few words works better than a whole post.

  2. 2

Compare the six bold styles at the top of the list and pick the one that suits where it is going.

  3. 3

If you are posting to X, bold only the words that matter, since every bold letter counts as two there.

  4. 4

Copy it and paste it into the post, bio or display name.

Frequently Asked Questions

Bold Sans. Most social apps set their text in a sans-serif system font, so bold sans letters look like the app's own bold. Bold serif has heavier contrast and looks more like a printed heading.
