Business Name Generator

Generate business and brand name ideas by style, industry and tone, with the domain

Leave it empty for names drawn entirely from the industry word lists.

Sets the concrete half of the name: anchor, atlas, beacon, bridge and 16 more.

How the name is built

Two real words run together. Spells itself once heard, which is the whole argument for it. Facebook, Salesforce, Snowflake.

14 characters

Nothing longer than 14 characters before the dot, spaces not counted.

Finding a free domain

Both halves are ordinary words, so the good pairs went early. Expect to try several. The badge reads the style rather than the individual name, so treat it as an expectation and not a check: nothing here queries a registrar.

About Business Name Generator

The Business Name Generator draws twelve names at a time from three settings that work independently: how the name is put together, what trade it belongs to, and how it should sound. The six construction styles are the ones real companies are named by, from compounds like Salesforce and blends like Instagram to coined words like Kodak, unrelated real words like Apple, suffixed roots like Shopify and alliterative pairs like PayPal. Each style carries a badge for how likely its names are to still have a free domain, which is the thing that decides most shortlists in practice: a coined word competes with nothing, while two ordinary English words have been competing with everyone for twenty years. The same six styles cover a company name, a brand name for a single product and a trading name for a side project, since all three answer to the same constraints: sayable out loud, spellable after hearing it once, and short enough to type. Every suggestion also shows the domain it would take, checked so the words either side of the join do not spell something unintended once the space disappears.

Choosing a Business Name: Six Shapes and What Each One Costs

Almost every company name is one of six shapes. What each costs in spelling, memorability and domain availability, and the tests that thin a shortlist.

How to use Business Name Generator

  1. 1

Type a word your business is about, or leave the box empty and let the industry lists do the work.

  2. 2

Pick the line of work. It decides the concrete half of the name: kettle and roast for food, node and relay for software.

  3. 3

Choose how the name is built. Compound and evocative read as names straight away; blend and invented are where the free domains are.

  4. 4

Take the name at the top or copy any of the eleven under it. The button beside the list copies all twelve.

  5. 5

Nothing fits? Press Generate for another twelve, or change the tone and the length cap to move the whole batch.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. It shows the domain each name would take so you can see the length and read it back, but availability lives in the registry and changes by the hour. Copy a shortlist and check them at a registrar. Blends and invented names are where free .com domains still are; a compound of two common English words almost never is.
